Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has expressed his preference for a possible future move to the Saudi Pro League or Major League Soccer.
Both competitions have recently attracted big names, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Karim Benzema among the stars now playing in Saudi Arabia, while Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba have all moved to the MLS.
Osimhen is wanted by numerous top European clubs and received an offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal in the summer, which was rejected by Napoli.
When asked by Emiliano Viviano and former Italy striker Mario Balotelli in a Twitch interview whether he would prefer to play in the MLS or the Saudi Pro League, Osimhen said: “If I had the same conditions, I would go to the MLS. “
But the 24-year-old praised the Pro League’s progress over the past year.
“They are trying to develop their league, which is good,” he said. “One of the greatest of all time (Ronaldo) went there.
“Because of his influence they have attracted a lot of talented players to go there too. So for me it’s really good, they’re trying to make their league one of the best. To me, they do something amazing.”
Osimhen appeared to be leaving Italy in January after his own club recently posted a video on their own TikTok making fun of him, but he said: “I’m happy at Napoli.”
And he added: “People don’t realize how difficult it is to play in Serie A. From a tactical and physical perspective it is one of the most difficult leagues to play in.”
