Victims R. Kelly are happy with verdict: ‘This is a small victory’

One of the names that came up in the New York case against R. Kelly is that of singer Aaliyah, with whom the then 27-year-old artist in 1994 married. Aaliyah was 15 years old at the time. At the trial, one of R. Kelly’s backing singers said he saw him orally satisfy Aaliyah when the girl was 13 or 14 years old. There were also testimonials from people who claimed that the artist wanted to marry Aaliyah because he was afraid she was pregnant with him. The singer died in a plane crash in 2001.
