Mexico City.- Héctor Alberto Pérez Rojas, lawyer for three victims of trafficking in the case against Cuauhtémoc Gutiérrez de la Torre, said that these will not be presented in the continuation of audience of former PRI executive in Mexico City scheduled for today at 1:00 p.m. in the Oriente prison, where the so-called Trash King was admitted.
The former civil servant was arrested on December 29 past due to his alleged responsibility in the crimes of human trafficking in the modalities of Aggravated, attempted sexual exploitation and misleading advertising, as well as by criminal association.
Although the confrontations with three victims were scheduled for today, the lawyer commented that they will let the judge of the case determine whether or not they proceed.
In an interview with MILLENNIUMBefore the hearing, the litigant explained that apparently the former PRI is requesting the confrontations as a means of proof, however, argued that three women who reported him will not be presented because the legislation on trafficking in persons thus allows them as a protection mechanism.
“ Apparently he is asking to be able to present evidence and apparently the evidence he wants is the confrontations with the victims, in any case we are not going to present the victims because the legislation that exists regarding the protection of victims of human trafficking allows them to do not get angry with your attackers.
“ So we are not going to present them to them and then it will be up to us to argue it before the judge and she will decide whether or not to proceed. We consider that according to the law, confrontations do not proceed ”, he commented.
Héctor Alberto Pérez Rojas said that the victims of Cuauhtémoc Gutiérrez de la Torre could be “dozens” since the alleged human trafficking network to which it is linked lasted for several years and that “the fact that it was three quite brave girls who decided to report it is only a sampling of what really happened.”
“ Actually, since the same victims that I represent point out that there were dozens of women applying for these jobs, they were recruited to carry out these jobs and that there were several who already worked there, “he added. Similarly, he assured that there is” enough evidence “to demonstrate their responsibility in the case, such as the investigation of the media that released the alleged human trafficking network and the testimonies of the victims, of which one of them had an interview directly with Gutiérrez de la Torre.
In addition to the psychological evaluations and social work in favor of the victims, as well as an analysis and context report in which it is established how the human trafficking network worked, so that it would be talking about more than 40 means of proof .
At the appearance of this Monday, a judge will determine whether to issue a formal prison order against Cuauhtémoc Gutiérrez de la Torre, since such events, having occurred in 2014, would be sanctioned under the Traditional Penal System.
