Victims are relieved Ustaz Islamic Boarding School Riyadhul Jannah Depok Sentenced to 18 Years in Prison

Ustaz Achmad Fadilla Ramadhan alias Ustaz Ramadan was sentenced to 18 years in prison and a fine of IDR 500 million, subsidiary of 6 months in prison for sexual harassment against female students at the Riyadhul Jannah Islamic Boarding School, Depok. The victim’s legal team said they were relieved that the verdict was in accordance with their demands.

“We are all grateful that our lawyers accept this decision gracefully and 18 years in prison. The victim’s mother (mother) has also received it, ‘thank God, Mom,’ yes,” said the victim’s attorney, Alun Brahma Santi, to journalists at the Depok District Court, Wednesday (1/2/2023).

Alun said this verdict could create a deterrent effect for the accused or heinous perpetrators who did the same thing so they would not repeat the same unfortunate incident. Moreover, according to him, the defendant was very cruel as an educator who had damaged the future of the victim.

“This is also a deterrent effect for perpetrators and this also serves as a lesson for or maybe for others not to do the same thing. Moreover, this defendant is an educator who should be a good example, but instead damages the future of the victim, destroys the future the victim disturbed her psychologically and psychologically so that she experienced enormous trauma to the victim,” said Alun.

Alun hopes that the other three perpetrators can be caught soon. Moreover, according to him, the three perpetrators have been named as suspects.

“Hopefully the other 3 suspects, one DPO (D) then (I) and also (A) will be arrested soon. Because they have been named suspects, they will immediately undergo the legal process as appropriate. We hope so that justice will really appear.” like that,” Alun said.

Alun said that the restitution that was granted by the judge was down and did not comply with his demands. However, his party will discuss the next steps with the family.

“Yes, the restitution was Rp. 50 million, but the panel of judges granted Rp. 30 million. Then, we will discuss it again with the family,” Alun explained.

Alun revealed that the victim’s condition had not been able to meet other people so that she was still in traumatic recovery. The family, according to Alun, is currently undergoing counseling.

“It’s still traumatic recovery, then trying to meet other people there is fear. For now, the victims are still undergoing treatment, are undergoing counseling until now, try to imagine that they are still undergoing it,” Alun concluded.

Sentenced to 18 Years in Prison

To note, Ustaz Achmad Fadilla Ramadhan alias Ustaz Ramadan was sentenced to 18 years in prison and a fine of IDR 500 million, a subsidiary of 6 months in prison. Fadilla was found guilty of sexually harassing his female students at the Riyadhul Janah Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes), Depok.

“Declaring that the Defendant Achmad Fadillah Ramadhan alias Ustaz Ramadan has been proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing the crime of violence forcing a child to have intercourse with him which was carried out by an educator as in the first alternative indictment,” said the chief judge at the Depok District Court, Wednesday (1/2).

“Sentenced a sentence on the defendant by imprisonment for 18 years and a fine of Rp. 500 million, with the stipulation that if the fine is not paid, it will be replaced by imprisonment for 6 months,” he continued.
