Victim Shot and Escapes to Neighbour’s Trailer
The woman who was the victim in a Monday trailer park shooting in Danvers, Massachusetts, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was forced to flee to a neighbor’s trailer, according to Essex District Attorney Paul Tucker.
Immediate Response and Suspect Arrest
The victim was quick to call 911, prompting Danvers police to respond to the scene at 98 Newbury Street. Authorities established a perimeter around both the site of the shooting and the trailer where the victim sought refuge.
Joseph M. Hurley, the suspect in the shooting, engaged in a two-hour standoff with the police and even fired shots towards them. Eventually, the suspect was apprehended and is now in custody, facing multiple charges, including armed assault with intent to murder and assault with a dangerous weapon.
Injured Victim and Medical Attention
The woman who was shot was immediately taken to Beverly Hospital for emergency treatment. However, due to the severity of her injuries, she was later med-flighted to a Boston hospital for specialized care. The unidentified victim’s current condition is unknown.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Joseph M. Hurley is expected to be arraigned at Salem District Court on Tuesday. He is being charged with armed assault with intent to murder, three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, as well as unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

As Massachusetts State police reported, the incident was first announced on Twitter on Monday afternoon. The initial tweet mentioned a shooting in Danvers and described a male suspect barricaded inside a trailer. It was also stated that a female victim had already been transported to a hospital for treatment.
Shortly after 2:15 p.m., state police issued an update stating that the suspect was now in custody, and the situation had been resolved.
Danvers Trailer Park, situated on Route 1, served as the location for this unfortunate incident. In response to the shooting, state police closed down the highway, and as of 2:50 p.m., it remained inaccessible to ensure ongoing investigations.
