In order to run the Boston Marathon, in the age range of 18-34 years old, the age group to which “Chente” belongs, it is necessary to record a qualifying time of less than three hours.

Recently, Vicente “Chente” Rodríguez, in his first marathon in Mexico City, clocked an official time of two hours, 52 minutes and seven seconds, thereby achieving the mark to run the Boston Marathon.

In this regard, he comments: “I am motivated by the brand, the focus was to run a marathon and run it well, to have a good competition, I always wanted to go down from three hours to two fifty-nine or thirty, however, over time Once I reach the official I consider myself well served, I return well from Mexico City, without a doubt the height weighs, the route was ups and downs, even if you grab downs you wear yourself out, but we were always good at competition thanks to the training I had with Beto in Mendoza, there it is pure climb and that helped me, I did not think about giving the mark for the Boston marathon, I did not know about it, I just went and ran with my heart to give my best version, when they told me that there was The three-hour drop and the opportunity to run now in the United States aroused my concern to see if there is a chance to go, we are going to investigate what it takes to participate there more than anything, I know in advance that the rhythms of the professionals They bring them very strong, but participating in the Boston Marathon would be a very good thing for us who are in this sport”.

To this, he added: “Right now I am going to try to run five, ten and 21 kilometers to lower my times and marks that I have mainly in five and ten, we are going to put a little speed to walk faster in the marathon and be able to go down there too my times, in such a way that I can gain more power and strength for the Lala marathon, they tell me that everything is flat there and I could give a better mark” (sic).

He hopes support arises to be able to run in Boston

Prior to running his first marathon, Vicente “Chente” Rodríguez, was running within the state of Guanajuato in categories of five, ten and 21 kilometers in cities such as Irapuato, Valle de Santiago, Guanajuato capital, Salamanca and Celaya, always staying in the top five. “We dedicate ourselves to running street races, almost not track races because of our age, I started a little late, between the ages of 29 and 28, but always active, we like sports, although I had never practiced it like before ”.

I emphasize that it was in the middle of the 30-kilometer workouts that he realized he felt good running the long-distance tests.

In addition, he highlighted his love for running: “It came about because of some work colleagues, they invited me to participate, this sporting activity caught us, we liked it, we began to compete in events where we met people and developed a greater taste for practicing athletics with support. from coach Beto, a few months ago he also ran for less than three hours, now we are waiting for the elements to come together and some support to come together and make a team in the Boston marathon” (sic).

He also highlighted: “I ran with my heart in Mexico City, in every kilometer all the people who have supported me (clinic, family, dad, coach, team) ran that day with me, kilometer after kilometer”,

To finish, he pointed out: “We are very happy for running for less than three hours, we put in all the kilometers the same, four minutes per kilometer, that is how it was planned and even if the last ones could be closed more strongly and even if it lowered it by about ten seconds ( 3.48) for the last two kilometers, I wanted to lower them to 3.30, but he didn’t let me anymore”.
