Vice President Ma’ruf Amin Lays Foundation for Hj Andi Nurhadi Mosque and AAS International Hospital in Makassar

MAKASSAR, KOMPAS.com – Vice President (Wapres) Ma’ruf Amin carried out the groundbreaking or laying of the first stone for the construction of the Hj Andi Nurhadi Mosque and AAS International Hospital.

These two magnificent buildings belong to the former Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman. The location is on Jalan Awareness 4, Panakkukang District, Makassar, South Sulawesi (Sulsel).

In his speech, Ma’ruf Amin felt proud and touched by Andi Amran Sulaiman’s intention to build the mosque.

“I feel proud and touched because Pak Amran was able to realize his intention to build a mosque and hospital which he had long dreamed of,” said Ma’ruf Amin, Monday (9/10/2023).

According to him, the mosque built by Andi Amran Sulaiman was not only a place of worship but also a center for the development of Islamic civilization in Eastern Indonesia.

“Because mosques should not only be for worship, but mosques are centers for guidance, centers for the people, centers for preaching, centers for improvement,” he said.

He also revealed that what Andi Amran Sulaiman did was the same as the story of the Prophet Muhammad SAW who built a mosque in Medina, Saudi Arabia.

“Like the mosque built by Rasulullah in Medina, which was previously a small town called Yatsrib. But after it was built by Rasulullah, starting with the construction of the Al Madinatul Munawwarah Mosque, Medina then became the center of world civilization which brought major changes in improving the world,” he said.

It is known that this magnificently designed mosque is planned to have a capacity of 20,000 worshipers with a project value of IDR 500 billion. The mosque was named the Hj Andi Nurhadi Mosque, who was Amran Sulaiman’s biological mother.

“Yesterday I visited Uzbek, there was built an Islamic center, a center of civilization and I was very jealous. Therefore, I feel grateful because it turns out that a center of Islamic civilization is also being built here which will be the pride of us Indonesians,” he said.

According to him, the construction of this mosque must be supported because it was built for the benefit of the people.

“Because the mosque that is being built is not only provided for worship but is equipped with shared facilities that will bring benefit to society and the nation, we must support it. Everyone must help and (this mosque) will become the center of world civilization,” he added.

He also hopes that the construction of the mosque and hospital in Makassar can run smoothly.

“Hopefully the entire process of building the Hj Andi Nurhadi Mosque and ASS International Hospital will run smoothly and be completed on time and its presence will spread blessings and benefits to the community,” he said.

Founder of the AAS Foundation, Andi Amran Sulaiman, said there was a story behind the construction of the hospital.

He said that when his mother was sick, there was no affordable hospital access. At that time, Andi said that if he had excess fortune, he would build a hospital.

“In time [nanti] “We will build a hospital that can provide help to people, especially poor people, for free,” said Andi.
