Vice Premier of China’s State Council He Lifeng Urges US to Resolve Sanctions and Tariffs

Vice Premier of the People’s Republic of China’s State Council He Lifeng, during talks with US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in San Francisco, expressed concern over the tightening of US sanctions, export and investment restrictions, and tariffs against China, Xinhua news agency reported.

According to him, He Lifeng urged Washington to “take concrete steps” to resolve these issues. Overall, as noted, the consultations have been constructive. The parties discussed in detail issues of bilateral and global nature that are of mutual interest. The Deputy Prime Minister of the State Council outlined Beijing’s position on the Ukrainian crisis and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to Yellen.

During He Lifeng’s visit to the US, both countries have made active efforts to normalize bilateral relations. Particular attention is paid to the implementation of the consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries, as well as to the economic program before the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to the United States planned for November 14-17, where he will meet with American President Joe Biden.

According to data published by China’s Global Times, US sanctions apply to more than 13,000 Chinese nationals and individuals. The list of Washington’s restrictions on China is constantly expanding.
