Vibeke Johannesen resigns from her job as general manager of Brann – VG

Birger Grevstad resigned as Brann’s chairman of the board on Thursday and stated a lack of trust as the reason for his decision. On Friday, Espen Brochmann resigned from the Brann board, while Geirmund Brendesæter withdrew for reasons of impartiality.

– I think it’s an incredibly strange situation, the whole thing. We were put under pressure by the board to protect Vibeke’s position, and this happens two days later. It is incredibly strange, says Grevstad to VG on Saturday night – and says he was among those who worked for a renewal of the top management, without it necessarily meaning to remove Johannesen.

Grevstad refers to the job that lies ahead of the club, both in terms of the pitch, the economy and the future of the Obos league – and says there was too much “war” in the board towards his decision to resign.

– The board was divided in two, among other things on the basis of Johannesen, and now they throw her out shortly after they have got me and others out, he says, and says he thought his own dismissal would give Johannesen peace of mind.

– This chaos that has occurred in the boardroom in the wake of the relegation – what does it say about Sportsklubben Brann?

– It’s depressing. I think the chaos would have arisen even if we had kept our place in the Elite Series. It was important to bring about a change in the top management, and the three of us who left the board did not get through the changes we wanted, so I think this would be just as relevant regardless of the relegation, says Grevstad – and says he looks forward to the future of the club , with new faces and new thoughts.

VG has been in contact with Vibeke Johannesen. She does not want to comment on the case at this time.

She took over as general manager in 2014, and has been the leader through promotion, two medals – as well as the scandalous game in August and the relegation against Jerv on Wednesday night.

BT commentator Anders Pamer is not very surprised by the development.

– It has been “agreed that she will resign”. Do you think she had any choice?

– No, I’m terribly insecure. This is a very special situation. The remaining board members were positive and have supported her. In that sense, it was difficult to imagine that it would happen.

– But da Espen Brochmann withdrew yesterday, it became difficult to do nothing. The members began to rattle about the extraordinary meeting, and it could quickly end very badly for Brann. To calm down, this was the right decision, regardless of who did it.

The board further states that everyone has made their seats available, and Skard explains that they will now convene an extraordinary annual meeting to elect a new board.

This new board will also be responsible for recruiting Johannesen’s replacements.
