Sports director Jörg Schmadtke confirmed a corresponding report in the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung at the Bundesliga club’s training camp in Austria. “Should I talk to Niko about a title bonus when we’re standing on the town hall balcony? It goes without saying that a possible championship will be honored,” said Schmadtke.
Former Bayern coach Kovac presented himself in Wolfsburg in June with high goals. “Titles are the nicest thing you can get,” said the 50-year-old at his first press conference in the Volkswagen Arena. To the WAZAccording to the report, Kovac canceled his league competitor Borussia Mönchengladbach, who were also interested in him, before moving to Wolfsburg.
