Shortly before the end of the transfer period on Friday, VfB Stuttgart signed defender Anthony Rouault. The 22-year-old comes on a year-long loan from French Cup winners and Europa League participants FC Toulouse. According to media reports, the Swabian Bundesliga team has a purchase option for the central defender.

VfB reacted to the departure of the Greek Konstantinos Mavropanos, who had recently joined the English Conference League winners West Ham United.

“We are convinced that Anthony has all the qualities to quickly establish himself in the Bundesliga. He has already played numerous professional games in France and gained important experience, while at the same time at the age of 22 he still has further development potential,” said Stuttgart’s sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth on the French newcomer.
