Now everything can go very quickly…
As reported exclusively by BILD yesterday, Paderborn managing director Fabian Wohlgemuth (43) will become the new sporting director of the VfB. It is possible that the deal will be settled on Friday.
Paderborn president Thomas Sagel confirmed Stuttgart’s interest in Westfalen-Blatt: “Fabian Wohlgemuth informed me on Thursday and the phone call from Stuttgart came late in the evening. We are in no hurry and will treat the matter with respect.” There is no information on the length of Wohlgemuth’s contract in Paderborn.
After the end of Mislintat at the beginning of the week, the supervisory boards of the VfB kicked off a quick replacement on Thursday evening: They unanimously approved a financial expansion of the budgetary framework decided in the summer.
One of the first official acts of the new sporting director will almost certainly be the commitment of Bruno Labbadia (56). The fox coach coached VfB from 2010 to 2013. According to BILD information, Bernhard Trares (57) is expected to become his assistant coach. The two know each other very well. They already played together in the youth selection teams, then played together for Darmstadt 98, KSC and Werder Bremen. In 2015 Labbadia brought his youth partner to the coaching team of HSV. Most recently, Trares was head coach at Würzburg. He has been without a club since April 2021.
