Stuttgart (AP) – Fabian Wohlgemuth takes over as sporting director at Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart. The 43-year-old succeeds Sven Mislintat and has received a contract until 30 June 2025, the Swabian club announced. So far, Wohlgemuth has worked as sporting director at SC Paderborn in the 2nd Bundesliga.
“With the new appointment to the position of sporting director, we want to give both fresh impetus and a sign of continuity on our path,” said Stuttgart chief executive Alexander Wehrle.
The Swabians separated from Mislintat after talks lasting several days and after about three and a half years. According to their own statements, VfB presented the 50-year-old with a “fair market offer to extend the contract”, which Mislintat refused.
