VfB Lübeck with a game to forget › HL-SPORTS

Lübeck – On the Day of German Unity, the VfB Lübeck in the Regional League North Teutonia 05 Ottensen on the Lohmühle. 3,183 spectators saw an avoidable 1:4 (0:2) defeat.

Two guest goals and nobody knows why

The game began with a slight moment of shock when Herdi Bukusu collided with Teutonia keeper Jan Niemann in the 3rd minute, but both players were able to continue after a break for treatment. As expected, VfB Lübeck took the initiative from the start and the guests tried counterattacking. A pass from Manuel Farrona Pulido to Julian Albrecht was a little too long (10th), which almost became dangerous. Albrecht also had the first opportunity when he chested a ball in the penalty area, but his subsequent shot was deflected towards a corner (14th). It was he who had the second opportunity and put a ball just over the box from a central position (20th). After a five-minute break in the game following a supposedly unsportsmanlike action by the Lübeck fans, the guests took a corner and took the completely unexpected lead through a header from Kevin Weidlich (31st), something that was definitely not expected. And it got even worse: After a corner, a series of defensive errors brought the ball to Marvin Ajani, who gave Gavin Didzilatis no chance with a left-footed shot into the far corner, making it 0-2 (37′). The course of the game was completely turned upside down. After that the game dragged on until the half-time whistle, there were no more notable actions and the Green-Whites seemed shocked.

Short hope

VfB came out of the locker room with a lot of momentum and Teutonia was only able to prevent the goal in the 50th minute with a lot of luck when Robin Kölle was denied by keeper Niemann from close range. A long-range shot from Tom Geerkens also narrowly missed its target (52nd). On the other side, Dominik Akyol was denied by Didzilatis (58′). After a free kick from Jorik Wulff, Felix Drinkuth’s volley hit the side netting (66′). Substitute John Posselt also found his match in Niemann (68th). In the 75th minute, the Green-Whites had a chance to score again when referee Maximilian Nie-Hoegen pointed to the penalty spot after a handball. Drinkuth stepped up and converted safely (77′). Hope arose and only lasted a minute, because following a corner, the VfB defense couldn’t get the ball out of the penalty area and had to accept the 1:3 by Weidlich (79th). In the remaining time, VfB couldn’t think of much to crack the visitors’ defense. Many attempts were stuck in the beginning or were miserably missed. To make matters worse, in the 95th minute the Green-Whites ran into a counterattack and conceded 4-1 through Noel Denis. Shortly afterwards it was over.
