Lübeck – The VfB Lubeck has on Saturday on the 8th matchday in the Regional League North away with 2:3 against the SSV Jeddeloh lost. The interim equalizer from Herdi Bukusu (35th) was not enough to go into the break with a draw. With the half-time whistle, Kasra Ghawilu (45th) scored the lead. In the second half, Ebrima Jobe scored his brace in the 58th minute. The late goal by Leon Sommer (87th) was no longer enough for a draw. In the league, it is the second defeat in a row for VfB and the fifth game in a row without a win.
Offensive pressure and defensive problems: VfB Lübeck misses the equalizer
New signing Tom Geerkens started for the Green-Whites from the start. The match began with a lot of pace from both sides. VfB put the opponent under pressure early on. Ex-VfB player Robin Krolikowski had the first chance to score in the game. In the 11th minute, Krolikowski shot from distance, but the ball landed behind the goal. With the first good chance, Jeddeloh took the lead in the 19th minute. Robin Kölle had moved up too far on the right, so that Tim Janßen was completely unmarked after a through ball and crossed into the middle to Jobe, who only had to tap it in. Lübeck had their first shot on goal in the 25th minute through Manuel Farrona Polido and it was a really dangerous one. As he fell, Pulido only shot against the crossbar after an assist from Herdi Bukusu. The hosts were very stable in the first half, but the equalizer came in the 35th minute through Bukusu after Felix Drinkuth prevailed and played a flat ball sharply in front of the goal. Before half-time, things got a bit dampened. Captain Ghawilu showed a strong individual effort and scored from around 20 meters into the left corner. From VfB’s point of view, the 1:2 came far too easily.
Guerino Capretti made two substitutions for the second half, with both Kölle and Marvin Thiel already having yellow cards. After Janßen’s chance (55th minute), Jeddeloh scored again in the 57th minute through Jobe. This gave Jeddeloh a 3-1 lead and VfB Lübeck did not produce much after the break. As a result, SSV even had the chance to make it 4-1, and Jobe again appeared dangerously in front of Noah Oberbeck’s goal. Drinkuth had another four or five shots before the end of the game, but without the desired result. New signing John Posselt, who had meanwhile been substituted, also narrowly missed the goal with a header. In the last 20 minutes, Jeddeloh withdrew a little and VfB had to make pinpricks in attack. Sommer’s goal in the 87th minute, following an assist from Ramiz Demir, came too late. Geerkens caused a moment of shock just before the final whistle. The technical error during a reception almost resulted in an emergency brake. Ultimately, it was not an undeserved success for Jeddeloh. The fightback came too late.
