Stuttgart – VfB Stuttgart can again rely on their star striker Sasa Kalajdzic in the away game at SpVgg Greuther Fürth on Saturday (3.30 p.m. / Sky).
“Sasa will be in the squad,” said coach Pellegrino Matarazzo. “He’s feeling surprisingly good. We’ll see if it’ll be enough for 60 minutes. ” Kalajdzic suffered a shoulder injury in the game at RB Leipzig on August 20 and the Swabian Bundesliga club has been absent since then. Last season, the Austrian international striker was VfB’s best scorer with 16 league goals.
After their positive corona tests, Wahid Faghir, Silas Katompa Mvumpa and Naouirou Ahamada are still in domestic isolation until January 9 and will miss the game in Fürth, as Matarazzo announced. Mateo Klimowicz, who also tested positive, is to travel back to Stuttgart from Argentina on Friday and then “be built up”. Konstantinos Mavropanos is already out of isolation after his positive results, but due to his lack of training, according to Matarazzo, “most likely not an option” for the start of the second half of the season. The use of Atakan Karazor (metatarsal problems) is also questionable.
“Failures of players and top performers can always have an effect on the performance of a team,” said Matarazzo about the corona worries that accompany his team throughout the season. “There are various reasons why you should be promoted or relegated. It is not the all-important reason, but it is certainly a factor. ” The game at the bottom of Fürth is a “new start” for the table-16., so the coach. “It is not unimportant that we start the second half of the season with good energy, a good performance and a good result.”
