Founded by BioWare veteran James Ohlen, Archetype Entertainment (owned by Wizards of the Coast) is finally at The Game Awards 2023. presented its non-linear sci-fi RPG.
The game is called Exodus. It will offer a blend of next-gen story-driven experiences, cinematic storytelling, extensive freedom of action and modern AAA gameplay. Positioned as the start of a franchise.
In the story of Exodus, humanity left the dying Earth and settled in the Centauri Cluster, where it is now fighting for survival. The main character, a Traveler named June Aslan, will help with this.
Travelers are engaged in stealing advanced technologies of the Celestials – the main enemy of humanity. The problem is that these interstellar missions take days for agents, but decades for people back home.
This effect (called time dilation) will allow players to track the consequences of decisions made not only at the level of individual characters, but also of an entire human civilization.
At the same time, June Aslan is an unusual Traveler, since the DNA of a human and a Celestial is mixed in him. In this regard, the hero will be able to interact with alien technologies (see the ending of the trailer above).
On the journey, the protagonist will be accompanied by colorful allies (the story of one of them, Tom Vargus, is dedicated to the announcement trailer and its extended version), who will have personal quests. Romances with companions are declared.
The developers promise character customization, non-linear leveling, freedom to choose a fighting style and graphics on Unreal Engine 5. One of the characters is voiced by Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey.
Exodus is being created for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and S. Release dates are not disclosed at this stage. According to Olen, the team was inspired by Mass Effect, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Indiana Jones.
