On October 30, in the Small Hall of the Dzintari Concert Hall with a self-composed music program in two parts “Drops of Light”, the concert will be given by piano virtuoso – pianist and composer Vestards Šimkus, allowing listeners to look in their musical diary.
The author himself says about the concert program that they are especially bright and full of happiness works written in recent years.
“The compositions are united by a light mood and a light mood full of strength and energy and a feeling of happiness. Most of my music is inspired by walks, where I go every day through forests and meadows near my home on the Kurzeme side. During these walks, I have seen how in different ways the light of the sun or the moon can shine again and again and even seem to color the same landscape, tree, lake or seashore. The music heard in this concert is like the essence of what I have improvised, after these walks I return to the piano and try to express what I saw in the music. In my opinion, creating such music is the way I write my most personal diary, ”says Vestards Šimkus.
V. Šimkus is a winner of several international competitions. The pianist has gained international attention in collaboration with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the French National Orchestra, the North German Radio Symphony Orchestra, Kremerata Baltica, etc. He has given concerts in such notable places as Vienna and Berlin Konzerthaus, Tokyo Opera, Olivier Messian Hall on French Radio, Berwald Hall, Stockholm The concert hall, Prague Rudolfinum, Barcelona Palau de Musica, Shanghai Oriental Art Center and Amsterdam Concertgebouw.
