On Tuesday afternoon, there were several accidents on the E18 at Holmestrand, Vestfold intermunicipal fire service writes on Twitter.
At 16.17, crews moved out after a report of a car that had run off the road at Botnetunnelen.
– When we moved out, it was really slippery from Holmestrand and north. The car had driven off and turned around, but ended up on all four wheels. Those involved appeared unharmed, we secured the scene of the accident, says fire chief Henrik Oseberg.
– While we were on our way to this accident, we saw another accident at the exit E18 southbound at Bentsrudkrysset. We redistributed some resources and helped both, says Oseberg to VG.
The fire service comes with a call to all motorists on the stretch:
– Drive carefully, sugar snow makes E18 very slippery and is difficult to detect. People should keep in mind that conditions change very quickly and although it is okay to drive where you are now, it may be different later on. Lower your shoulders, drive carefully. The most important thing now is that everyone arrives safely before Christmas, says Oseberg to VG.
The South-East police district reported a traffic accident on the E18 at the Paulertunnelen outside Larvik at 16.12.
– There should be talk of a rear-end collision. A person is taken to hospital for a check-up. Both vehicles involved must be salvaged, they write.
The road traffic control center is in the process of salting the road. At 17.15, the police write on Twitter that a field has been opened past the accident site, so traffic is reduced.
Vegtrafikksentralen has also noticed that driving conditions have changed,
– There is starting to be a light sprinkle of snow in Vestfold, Telemark, Oslo and Viken and it is starting to get slippery in Gudbrandsdalen, says traffic operator in Vegtrafikksentralem, Tomas Eriksen, to VG on Tuesday afternoon.
Eriksen explains that this type of driving can quickly become dangerous.
– This light snow quickly becomes a polish on the roads. Nevertheless, we have not had any other than minor accidents registered with us. There is less traffic than normal now when many are in the home office, he says.
