There were very, very many of us this Saturday, October 12 at noon for the demonstration for the defense of the Carhaix hospital and its Emergency Department and more broadly for the defense of local hospitals and the defense of the public hospital service in Brittany (as elsewhere) .

And meanwhile, Prime Minister Barnier and Macron are planning 3.8 billion reductions in public health spending.

Gladys Grelaud made a beautiful and incisive intervention, full of humanity, as Brittany regional advisor of the communist group.

We also welcome the beautiful interventions of the MP for Carhaix and center-Finistère Mélanie Thomin and Gaël Roblin, for the defense committee of the Guingamp hospital, who requested the opening of cooperation with Cuba to bring in doctors Cubans and the regularization of foreign doctors who work in our hospitals.

Communists from the entire department (Concarneau, Scaër, Brest, Morlaix, Carhaix-Huelgoat) and Côtes d’Armor were numerous in the demonstration as well as the Communist Youth, who had come from Brest and southern Finistère.

The public hospital is bleeding! this becomes the rule.

This doesn’t fall from the sky!

The orchestrated attack on our public services is the result of a neoliberal political desire to break public services for the benefit of the private sector.

The problem is indeed national and not just regional.

It is our public service, we are the ones who pay for it, we all contribute according to our means and receive what we need.

The orientations of the Barnier government, violently austerity and capitalist, will further worsen the quality of access to health and public hospitals for citizens, despite the dedication and professionalism of caregivers, underlined by all. .

The announcements from the Minister of Health leave no doubt, bed closures, budget cuts for our hospitals.

The Finistère Federation of the PCF, like all communists, is committed to defending the public hospital.

And I would quote Ambroise Croizat, communist minister who created social security: “We will never tolerate the denial of even one of the advantages of social security. We will defend to death and with the last energy, this human law and progress”

This quote, at the end of the war in a France, a bloodless Brittany, is more relevant than ever.

The fight continues, the power of money is making us die!

Today, like tomorrow, in Brittany as in Occitania, we resist and we will resist. There are no battles lost except those that are not fought! Let’s lead and together we will win!
