Hit in the left knee during Juventus Turin’s victory against Leipzig in the Champions League (3-2), Bremer will be unavailable for a long period.
Hard blow for Juventus Turin. Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer seriously injured his left knee against Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday (3-2 victory) and will be unavailable for a long period, the Piedmont club announced on Thursday.
“This (Thursday) morning, Gleison Bremer and Nico Gonzalez underwent in-depth examinations which revealed for the first an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee and for the second a low-level injury to the femoral of right thigh,” Juve said in a statement.
Possible end of season
“Bremer will be operated on in the coming days,” concluded the Piedmontese club without giving further details. According to the Italian press, Bremer’s absence should be at least six months and it is possible that he will not play again this season.
“Unfortunately, the results of the exams confirmed the worst-case scenario, it is a challenge that I will face with my usual motivation, it will be an opportunity to grow, improve and come back even stronger,” wrote the Brazilian international (5 selections) on his Instagram account.
One month for Gonzalez
Bremer, who arrived at Juve in 2022 from Torino, was injured in the 6th minute of the match won 3-2 by Juve who were trailing 2-1 and reduced to ten men after the exclusion of their goalkeeper at playing time.
Indisputable in defense in the eyes of his coach Thiago Motta, Bremer, 27, had played all of Juve’s matches in the league and C1 until then.
Juve, 2nd in the Italian Championship, one point behind Naples, will also be without Facundo Gonzalez, who was injured in the 12th minute of play, for a month.
