German tennis player Tamara Korpatsch called out Harmony Tan after a late Wimbledon withdrawal as she wasn’t happy with how the French acted on Wednesday. On Wednesday, Korpatsch and Tan were scheduled to play their Wimbledon doubles first round match.
According to Korpatsch, just an hour before the match Han messaged her saying she couldn’t compete. Korpatsch didn’t hide her frustration and anger as she claims Tan reached out to her before Wimbledon and asked if she was willing to ber doubles partner at The Championships.
On Tuesday night, Han edged out Serena Williams in a thriller that lasted over three hours. “Unfortunately my Doubles Partner Harmony Tan retired from our doubles today. She just texted me this morning. Let me wait here 1 hour before the match start.
I’m very sad, disappointed and also very angry that I can’t play my 1st Doubles Grand Slam. And It’s really not fair for me. I didn’t deserve that. She asked me before the tournament if we wanna play doubles and I said yes, I didn’t ask her, she asked me!
If you’re broken after a 3h Match the day before, you can’t play professional. That’s my opinion,” Korpatsch wrote on Instagram.
No Wimbledon doubles debut for Korpatsch
On Tuesday, Korpatsch played her singles first round match at Wimbledon.
Korpatsch made a good start to her Wimbledon first round match versus Heather Watson but the Briton recovered from a set down to beat the German 6-7 (7) 7-5 6-2. After losing to Watson, Korpatsch stayed at The All England Club as she was hoping to play doubles with Tan.
Unfortunately for Korpatsch, she will have to wait for another opportunity to make her doubles debut at Wimbledon. Korpatsch’s grass season has now finished as she picked up first round losses in ‘s’Hertogenbosch, Berlin, Bad Homburg and Wimbledon.
However, not that Korpatsch didn’t win a match on grass year as she made it past qualifying events in Berlin and Bad Homburg.
