Erling Haaland continues to show sensational performances in front of the opponent’s goal. However, young star Norway it’s not satisfied at all.
Haaland just scored a hat-trick as Norway beat weak team Gibraltar in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers. The score marks that Haaland has scored 12 goals in just 15 caps for his country since his debut in 2019.
That means Haaland is averaging 0.8 goals per game for Norway. However, if the number of goals is counted throughout this season then Haaland has scored 11 goals in eight games for Norway and Borussia Dortmund.
Anyway, Haaland Norway’s hopes of appearing on the World Cup stage for the first time since 1998. Victory over Gibraltar puts the Scandinavians in second place in Group G with 13 points from six matches, level with the Netherlands above them.
“I don’t score enough goals, but close to an average of one goal. Personally I think I should have scored more goals than games,” the 21-year-old striker told reporters. NRK quoted Daily Mail.
Before hitting Gibraltar, Haaland also carved his name on the scoreboard in Norway’s other two qualifying matches. Erling Haaland scored one goal each when he helped his team keep up with the Netherlands 1-1 (1/9), and beat Latvia 2-0 (4/9).
“The numbers speak for themselves. There’s not much to say, really. It’s absolutely crazy. We are very lucky to have him,” said Norway midfielder Martin Odegaard.
“I would say that he is on a par with the biggest players. Again, the numbers speak. He doesn’t fear anyone. We are lucky to have him.” Erling Haaland.
