“Verti Versicherung AG Announces Restructuring of Its Supervisory Board”

Mariel von Schumann becomes the new chairwoman of the supervisory board

Germany’s second-largest direct motor vehicle insurer is making new appointments to its supervisory board. Mariel von Schumann was appointed as the new Chairwoman of the Verti Versicherung AG Supervisory Board. She succeeds Alfredo Castelo, who has held the chair since March 2021.

Castelo, General Manager of the global MAPFRE Corporate Business Area, is retiring from the Supervisory Board as planned after a transitional period.

Mariel von Schumann has more than 27 years of international management experience in various industries and functions. The business administration graduate was on the supervisory board of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energies and is currently, among other things, a member of the supervisory board of a geopolitical consulting company.

“I know about the special challenges of the insurance industry, especially in the automotive sector. In the years to come, the company must continue on its growth course,” von Schumann says, looking forward to the new task. With its combination of digital solutions and personal service, the company sees itself ideally positioned to meet this challenge.

“I would like to express my sincere thanks to Alfredo Castelo for his commitment and I look forward to successful cooperation between the supervisory board and management,” von Schumann continued.

Von Schumann has been a member of the Verti Supervisory Board since March 2021 and is therefore familiar with the strategic positioning and long-term goals of the company. “Her in-depth experience in international management and her great passion for sustainability in business are a great asset to the company. Mariel von Schumann brings a fresh look at the insurance industry,” says Miguel Rosa, CEO of Verti Versicherung AG.

In addition, José Ramón Alegre, CEO of the EMEA region of the MAPFRE Group, was elected as a new member of the Supervisory Board. Alegre was already CEO of the Teltow insurer from 2016 to 2020.
