Olimpia had nothing left over, but he fulfilled his mission and beat Resistencia, settling in the quarterfinals of the Paraguay Cup.
In an inspired night, Derlis González was the author of the two goals for the team led by Álvaro Gutiérrez. While Gastón Olveira, deflecting the ball against his own goal, gave the blue box a temporary draw.
At the end, Resistencia was all in search of the tie that would stretch the definition until the penalty shoot-out, but the goal did not come. On the backlash, Olimpia could have finished him off and Jorge Recalde wasted a clear scoring opportunity.
In the quarters, Olimpia will face the winner of the key between Sportivo Ameliano and Guaireña.
Olimpia will hope that this new victory will give her another spirit for what is to come in the Clausura tournament. Now, he will have a few days off, taking advantage of the playoff break.
Resistance, for its part, ends its path in the Paraguay Cup, but is days away from confirming one of its best days in recent years. Winning the weekend, against Fernando de la Mora, he will be a First Division team after 22 years.
