In the first round, América defeated Puebla 3-2 at the Azteca stadium and won the tie with a global score of 4-3.
There was an intense Paraguayan presence in both teams, with Bruno Valdez in the Águilas, while Antony Silva was in goal for Puebla.
Henry Martín made it 1-0 for the ‘Eagles’ of America with a header inside the small area at minute 42, from a pass from Alejandro Zendejas.
Puebla’s ‘La Franja’ tied it 1-1 before the break, precisely at 45+2 with scissors from Israel Reyes.
At 58, the Chilean Diego Valdés scored the Americanist 2-1 with the collection of a penalty; this penalty was repeated because moments before the Paraguayan goalkeeper Antony Silva had saved the shot, but he did it by going over the goal line, according to the review from the VAR module.
Puebla was looking for a draw from a corner kick and América surprised them with a counterattack at 73: goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa cleared the ball with his hands towards Peruvian Pedro Aquino who advanced a few meters and projected Valdés, after the Chilean enabled the area to Zendeja to sign the 3-1.
‘La Franja’ managed to get closer to 3-2 with a penalty scored by Venezuelan Fernando Aristeguieta in discount time but it was not enough.

For the semifinals of the Argentine Professional League Cup, Racing de Matías Rojas fell to Boca on penalties, a match in which the former Cerro Porteño played until the 41st minute of the first half. The “10” of the Academy left the game due to a muscle injury, in tears for having left the team and above him being one of the most decisive.
After that meeting, a message on social networks moved all the Racing fans. “Today I hit rock bottom again and I am certain that very few know the pain I have, they cannot imagine the size of the suffering because once again I had to abandon my brothers,” said part of the message from Rojas, one of the great Racing figures in this tournament.
Avellaneda’s team did not lose a single game in the championship and was a candidate to play in the final. Despite the disappointment, Rojas was proud of his teammates.
“I want you to know that despite the result I feel very proud to belong to this institution and this beautiful group. I decided to post because today I felt inexplicable support from the people and tell them that I will come back better for you. It’s time to get up once more,” he wrote.
Rojas’ message generated many comments among Racing fans, teammates and even former soccer players from the Academy, who left words of encouragement for the Paraguayan.
