George Russell won at the São Paulo Grand Prix. However, a few people, mainly Red Bull’s struggling competitors, managed to divert attention from the first victory of the Mercedes driver’s career in Formula 1. However, there were also memorable moments from a positive point of view during the weekend of race in Interlagos: For example, Kevin Magnussen was able to start from pole position for the first time, which means that he already has more starts this year than Lewis Hamilton . Nyck de Vries could almost test another team’s car, while Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel fared very differently in one respect in the Brazilian sprint race.
DE VRIES WOULD BE READY NOW. There was a possibility that Nyck de Vries could participate in another race weekend this year, as Lando Norris was not feeling well in the days leading up to the race weekend at Interlagos. De Vries also took part in a seat test at McLaren in case Norris needed a replacement, but ultimately there was no need to change the driver line-up. However, it would have been interesting to see how the Dutchman, who will make his debut next year, could also test the fifth car of the season.

KEVIN MAGNUSSEN’S BIG DAY. It took 139 races and an almost finished F1 career to become a Danish Haas driver get your first pole position, which also means the first start for his team and country in the king category.
Magnussen’s pole is remarkable in itself, but if you look at who has won time trials this year, Lewis Hamilton is not on the list. Naturally, Magnussen’s success also required a little luck in the crazy Interlagos time trial.
OCON WAS HARD ON ALONSO – HE GOT THE RESULT. No the Interlagos sprint race it was the first time that the Alpine competitors “met” on the track. By the way, Fernando Alonso came off their battle worse in the first round, and the two-time world champion was subsequently hit with a time penalty. After the spate, Alonso said luckily he didn’t stay long until he had a new team-mate and yet Esteban Ocon’s car suddenly caught fire in the pit lane.

Alonso told his team right after the crash, ironically calling Ocon “our friend.” However, in addition to the Alpine, the Aston Martin drivers also had a meeting that almost ended badly in the sprint race. However, the fact that Lance Stroll almost pushed Sebastian Vettel into the wall was commented on much more briefly by the latter.

VERSTAPPEN WASN’T EXACTLY A TEAM PLAYER. The race was difficult for Sergio Pérez who, unlike the riders around him, was on medium tires in the final stage. For this reason, his engineer asked him to leave his teammate in front, but if he too fails to overtake Fernando Alonso, who is ahead of them, Pérez will regain his position. However, Max Verstappen did not comply with Red Bull’s request and maintained sixth place, infuriating his colleague who had helped him several times previously. As for what the Red Bull drivers had to say about the crash, you can read more here.

WHO CAN YOU ALSO TALK ABOUT. Some events, including the infighting at Red Bull, slightly took the attention away from the race winner, who was also able to drink champagne on the top step of the F1 podium for the first time, but it’s not just George’s performance Russell that you can tip your hat to. Charles Leclerc, for example, dropped to the back of the field at the start of the race, then finished in fourth place, while Fernando Alonso started from the penultimate row and moved into the top five.
