Verstappen won the wet qualification in Montreal ahead of Alons – F1sport.cz

Qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix 2022 took place on a wet and slowly drying track. In the first part, the riders rode the tires into the wet. Gasly, Vettel, Stroll, Latifi and Cunoda did not advance.

In the second part, some tires were put into transient conditions at the beginning. Alex Albon got off the track and crashed in the sixth turn, although it was nothing dramatic. However, a moment later Sergio Pérez was more worried. Also, his impact on the TecPro barrier was not very big, but the Red Bull driver could not get back on the track. The red flags had to be hoisted.

Bottas, Albon, Pérez, Norris and Leclerc did not advance. In the third part of the qualification, the track continued to dry, but in some parts of the track it was still quite wet. George Russell took a risk and was the only one in before the end of Q3 put on soft tires. However, he was given a watch and slightly damaged the rear wing. He couldn’t improve his time.

Max Verstappen won the pole position ahead of Fernando Alonso. In the second row will be Sainz and Hamilton.

The Haas drivers, who made it to Q3, where they did not say the last word and finished fifth and sixth, respectively, were also well qualified.

Charles Leclerc and Júki Cunoda have deployed above-limit components of the power unit and a start from the last row awaits them.
