Max Verstappen set the fastest time of the day in training for the Belgian Grand Prix. Ferrari, on the other hand, experienced a debacle.

The 22-year-old Dutchman Max Verstappen, who was born in Hasselt, Belgium, relegated Daniel Ricciardo in the Renault to second place by 48 thousandths of a second in the faster of the two hour and a half training sessions on Friday afternoon.
Third was Formula 1 front runner Lewis Hamilton. The winner of four of the six races of the season so far was 98 thousandths of a second missing from Verstappen, who is second in the standings, 37 points behind Hamilton.
Prelude to oblivion for Ferrari
The Ferrari drivers experienced a prelude to oblivion. Sebastian Vettel landed 48 hours before the race on Sunday (3.10 p.m. / Sky and RTL) only in 17th place. Vettel had to struggle with the Ferrari again and again and afforded a few brakes. He was almost two seconds behind Verstappen. Vettel was only followed on Friday by Nicholas Latifi (Canada) from the backbench team Williams and Romain Grosjean (France) and Kevin Magnussen (Denmark) from Ferrari customer Haas. The duo was only able to complete a few laps due to engine problems.
