The Dutch driver and rival Lewis Hamilton were summoned by the judges after Sunday’s race for their collision in the 36th lap of the race.
Verstappen after a dubious maneuver, he tried to let Hamilton by his side to return the position, but the defending champion didn’t know about it and bumped into Dutch Red Bull from behind.
Hamilton eventually won the race ahead of Verstappen, but the stewards listened to the two pilots after the knockout and ended up Verstappen was given a 10-second penalty.

“Rider No. 33 claimed that he did not understand why the car with start number 44 would not overtake him, while a driver of car number 44 stated that he was unaware that he would regain the position and did not understand why the car number 33 is slowing down. ”
The judges wrote in their explanation that they chose to punish Verstappen because the Dutch then braked suddenly (with a pressure of 69 bar), which It resulted in a slowdown of 2.4 Gs.
Verstappen’s 10-place penalty does not change the outcome of the race: the Dutch retained 2nd place in Jeddah.
