Max Verstappen will start from pole position on Sunday at the United States GP, 18th of 22 rounds of the Formula 1 World Championship. On the Austin circuit, the Dutch driver from the RedBull team clocked the best time in 1 : 32.910, thus passing 209 thousandths to Lewis Hamilton, his closest pursuer.
This is the 9th pole of the season pole of the season for Verstappen against 3 for Hamilton.
The third place of these qualifiers went to Sergio Perez (RedBull) in front Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes). The latter will be penalized by 5 places on the grid on Sunday after having changed engine. Charles Leclerc will therefore start from 4th place ahead of his Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz.
After the friction during free practice on Friday, Sunday’s duel between Hamilton and Verstappen promises to be hot. While there are only 5 GP to go, only 6 points separate the two men in favor of the Dutchman.
