Verstappen sets personal goal for Bahrain Grand Prix weekend

The Formula 1 circus will settle in Bahrain this weekend for the fifteenth Grand Prix of the season. Max Verstappen is on the hunt for success on the circuit in Sakhir. He has never managed to finish on the podium in Bahrain and he is only too happy to change that, especially after the disappointing weekend in Turkey two weeks ago.

“A first podium here would indeed be nice”, Max Verstappen replies when asked about his past in Bahrain. The tone has been set, but the Dutchman is at least delighted to be back in the Middle East. “I am happy to be here, the weather is also nice. Hopefully we can just have a good weekend again”, he looks ahead.

But he knows it can be a tricky story. Asked whether his last chance for a win in Turkey in 2020 has passed his nose, Verstappen denies. “I never said that as far as I can remember. There is always a chance for a win.”

“Yes, the results of the previous years do not speak in our favor. We have never had a chance to win here, but we will see it this weekend,” said the 23-year-old driver.

The lightning-fast Verstappen didn’t have luck on his side in Turkey, but can he beat Mercedes in Bahrain? All about the Bahrain GP in the latest edition of RacingNews365’s Formula 1 podcast, which can be heard below.
