Verstappen returns to success

Max Verstappen found the recipe for success this Saturday at the end of the sprint race of the United States GP. The Batavian notably dominated Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris, the other two residents of the podium.

Four long months later, Max Verstappen (Red Bull) tastes victory again. An eternity for the reigning Formula 1 world champion who therefore pocketed 8 points in the standings in addition to establishing his domination for the fourth time this year in sprint racing. In pole position for the event contested this Saturday as a preamble to the United States Grand Prix, the Batavian retained his place from start to finish although Lando Norris (McLaren) pushed him to his limits for a time. The Briton, however, did not keep his place at the start of the sprint because a braking fault on the last lap left the field open to Carlos Sainz (Ferrari), author of a sensational performance.

The Spaniard, 5th on the grid, immediately put pressure on his teammate Charles Leclerc who, despite his complaints on the radio, effectively gave in to the onslaughts of
Sainz. He then got the better of George Russell (Mercedes) and therefore Lando Norris to snatch an unexpected second place.. Charles Leclerc has visited all the states. The Monegasque was overtaken by the other Scuderia driver before taking revenge on George Russell and trying his luck behind Lando Norris. But he failed and in the last lap he almost ended up in the background to finally take 4th place and 5 points.

Haas in the points, Alpine far from the mark

Behind George Russell, 5th, Mercedes placed its second driver, Lewis Hamilton, in the points (3 points). The final points of the sprint went to the two Haas drivers, Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hülkenberg. The outsiders Sergio Perez (Red Bull) and Oscar Piastri (McLaren) failed in 9th and 10th positions respectively. As for the French from Alpine, Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon, they followed each other in 14th and 15th places. But the entire paddock must digest this event and already turn its attention towards the GP qualifying which will begin in the afternoon in Austin, at midnight Paris time.
