Verstappen celebrated the best lap, and yet he is going into the race on Sunday (3 p.m. / Sky) with a mortgage. Because the fifth gearbox change was carried out on his car, Verstappen will be moved back by five positions and will therefore start from sixth place.
Qualifying was disappointing for Nico Hülkenberg. The driver from Emmerich was slowed down by hydraulic problems on his Haas and had to settle for 20th and last place on the grid. Returnee Daniel Ricciardo (Australia) also dropped out in the first part of qualifying and will start on Sunday with his AlphaTauri alongside Hülkenberg from the last row.
On Saturday, the sprint (4:30 p.m.) is on the program for the last race weekend before the summer break. The sprint shootout at noon (12.00 p.m./both Sky) will decide on the starting order.
