Verstappen limits the damage, fierce Red Bull criticism of FIA

The inaugural Grand Prix van Qatar became a convincing prey for Sunday Lewis Hamilton, who dominated the race under artificial light from start to finish with his Mercedes. Max Verstappen had to start the race in seventh position due to a grid penalty, but after a good start quickly fought his way to second place. However, that turned out to be the maximum achievable, the Dutchman himself had to admit. The Red Bull driver limited the damage by scoring a bonus point by driving the fastest lap, giving the Dutchman an eight-point lead in two weeks to defend during the penultimate race of the season in Saudi Arabia.

In the video at the top of this page, Ronald Vording and Koen Sniekers look back extensively at the Qatar Grand Prix. What were the reactions from the Mercedes camp afterwards, what did Verstappen have to say and what was Pirelli’s first reaction about the many flat tires during the race on Sunday?

Of course also attention to man of the match Fernando Alonso and a Formula 1 update these days isn’t complete without news from the stewards’ office. This time, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner was called into question after the Briton was quite critical of Verstappen’s grid penalty after qualifying.
