According to Verstappen, Red Bull is not yet at the level of Mercedes, but is making progress. “Small steps. It was a bit better than in the previous races. If you compared us at Silverstone with the subtop teams, we might have been a bit faster in relative terms. But it was really just pure Mercedes that had become a lot slower.”
The Dutchman is realistic: “Silverstone was very tough for the tires. They were actually just faster there. For us I think it must always be very hot and we should have soft tires”, says Verstappen. “There is still plenty to improve.”
