Daniel Ricciardo himself did not take long to respond on Thursday. He published a word of thanks on Instagram to everyone who played a role in his career.
Max Verstappen responds in a personal capacity to the Australian’s first reaction by encouraging him. “Chin up, buddy! There are still many great moments to come,” writes the three-time world champion, who could call himself Ricciardo’s teammate in his first years at Red Bull.
During a weekend of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Singapore, Verstappen already indicated what he would think about a possible departure of Ricciardo: “Daniel is a great guy. I think he has proven himself as a great Formula 1 driver. Moreover, “He’s a friend of mine. I don’t think it’s fun to be in that position in general, but on the other hand I don’t think he needs to feel sorry for himself.”
“Sometimes things may not go the way you want in certain phases of your career. But you have still achieved much more than anyone could ever dream of in their life,” Verstappen said in conversation with RacingNews365, among others.
A more extensive overview of reactions to (temporary?) farewell to Ricciardo will follow later on this website.
