Max Verstappen had to start third in the first ever Formula 1 race in Jeddah after a costly crash in qualifying. The Dutchman was spared a gearbox change, after which he showed his determination to make up for the lost spots. That also seemed to work in an outright spectacle, were it not for a rather bizarre plot twist that made Lewis Hamilton the winner of the race. Red Bull Racing still wants to challenge the result in every possible way, although the reality of the moment is that both drivers are on an equal footing in the World Cup position. A blood-curdling final awaits in Abu Dhabi. Verstappen is still World Cup leader because he has more victories to his name.
