Jakarta –
It went viral that a woman named Veronika Sidabutar (30) in Medan told her story of suffering from chronic kidney failure. Previously he admitted that he experienced unusual symptoms in the form of hiccups for two days that did not stop before going to bed.
Because he felt strange symptoms in his body, he decided to go to the doctor. After that he was treated for a week because he experienced symptoms of continuous nausea and vomiting.
“Then every hiccup starts with nausea and vomiting, what goes in is vomited out, including if you drink water. Vomit continues until blood comes out, maybe there is an internal wound,” he told detikcom, Monday (27/11/2023).
After undergoing various medical procedures, it was discovered that his kidney function remained at 20 percent. The doctor said that it was possible that this condition was caused by Vero’s long-standing habit of taking drugs. These drugs ultimately caused Vero’s kidneys to become inflamed.
Vero said that since college he often stayed up late and had fevers and headaches. To overcome this, he often takes medicines from doctors and shops.
“When we go to the clinic for treatment, we are always monitored. Then after that we bring medicine from the clinic and outside of that, sometimes I often take headache medicine from the shop. That’s because I can’t stand the pain, especially after Omicron. So often have headaches,” he added.
Until now, Vero is still undergoing treatment to treat her condition. He continues to undergo dialysis twice a week and is waiting for a kidney transplant which will be carried out next week.
“Now I get tired easily so I can’t do many activities. Then my legs swell so I can’t move much or walk long distances,” said Vero.
“Then the effects of dialysis can cause itching, insomnia, and nerve damage. I’ve experienced it. It’s like when we talk about having a hard mouth. Everyone is different, actually, there are other friends who don’t experience that,” he added.
Vero said that there were several types of food that he avoided while undergoing dialysis procedures. Some of them are foods high in salt, processed meat, red meat, and junk food and instant food.
“So add more vegetables and fruit, because that can stimulate kidney cells again. Drinks high in sugar are taboo, then fizzy drinks and colored drinks,” he concluded.
