User representatives have the function of defending the rights of users. Daniele Radegon et Sylvie Andreoletti are user representatives (RU) for the hospitals of Vernon (Your) and Évreux and the nursing home Auguste-Ridou in Vernon and Saint-Michel in Évreux. Sylvie Andreoletti is even the president.

A three-year term

They serve a three-year term and are appointed by an approved association, France Assos Santé. Once appointed, they completed mandatory training and now sit on the users’ committee.

This committee meets once every three months. If a user has a problem, there is the legal department to contact, we support the user. We need to have a certain neutrality in the context of the mediations. People are happy to see that they have support. You also have to have a certain distance and not have too much empathy so as not to let yourself be eaten.

“I started my second mandate a year ago, in the continuity of the association of which I am president, visitors to patients in hospitals. It is support in listening to users. Before the Covid, we had a permanence. People often need to talk,” says Danièle Radegon.

The only downside for the two representatives: their mission is still little known to the general public, while “there is really a need for RU as soon as a problem, both administrative and medical, occurs”. They also highlight the work of the legal department, which offers another approach with people and a meeting with executives and the referring doctor. “Often what is missing is communication between caregivers and patients, quite simply,” they say in one voice.
