Vernon Adams terminates his contract with the Alouettes

Montreal Alouettes quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. has chosen to put aside the 2020 year of his contract in order to try his luck in the NFL.

Since there will be no Canadian Football League (CFL) campaign, Adams Jr. took this tough decision to possibly find a position in the best league in the world. However, he could be back with the Sparrows in 2021, he announced on his Twitter account on Sunday.

“I want everyone reading this to know that I am still fully committed to this franchise and this city, and that if no NFL opportunities materialize this year, I will be back with the Als in 2021 with the same goal in head: building a dynasty, ”said the 27-year-old quarterback.

“I never planned this scenario for the 2020 season,” he added. Over the past few years, I have done everything to prepare myself to be a starting quarterback for this organization and this city. With the news of the season being canceled, I was forced to consider my options, in order to provide for my family. ”

In the off-season, Adams Jr. signed a two-year contract with the Alouettes. He led the team to a 10-8 record and a CFL playoff appearance.

He threw the ball for 3,942 yards for 24 touchdowns in 2019. Very mobile, the American also scored 12 majors on the ground. For his performances, he was elected to the Eastern Conference All-Star Team.
