Verniolle. Esperanto course: back from Tanzania

That’s it, summer is over. Associations are restarting their activities. Esperanto is no exception, especially since the 109th World Esperanto Congress took place in Aroucha, Tanzania, for the first time in Africa.

To find out more, just go to the first meeting of the season, at the old town hall of Verniolle (first floor, near the Post Office), this Saturday from 2 p.m.

There will of course be live testimony, photos, offers of exchange with African teachers and their students, etc.

Last year, John Magessa came to Verniolle to present the Congress (he was the secretary of the organizing committee). This Congress brought together 850 people from more than 60 countries, for a whole week, with 166 program items: Swahili lessons in Esperanto and vice versa, ecumenical religious service, AGM of the World Organization of Esperanto-speaking Atheists, football match between Esperantists and “locals”, private and public meetings of the International Esperanto Academy, international university of the Congress around the theme “Language, human being, environment for a better world” … We will come back to all this. 12 years ago, Mr. Brian Moon (translator in Luxembourg, current president of this academy) came to Verniolle for the inauguration of the Esperanto Garden. This Saturday, there will be no “lecture”, but rather “questions and answers”. Everyone is invited to meet the congress participants. Then it will be decided whether or not to learn the language, perhaps to participate in the 110th Congress, next summer in Brno in the Czech Republic, closer!
