‘Vergeten’ Suske en Wiske finished after 61 years

After 61 years From sonometer ready. Willy Vandersteen started the adventure of Suske en Wiske herself, but never finished it.

Will be published from October From sonometer in episodes in The standard. The album will be in stores next month, but Willy Vandersteen already went on an inspiration trip to Japan, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Thailand and India in 1959. On his return he worked out four pages and the rough version of a fifth page.

From sonometer would first appear in Hergé’s Tintin magazine, for which Vandersteen also included classics like The Spanish Ghost, The Tartar Helmet in Beersel’s treasure made. But the story was left unfinished when the collaboration between Vandersteen and Hergé ended.

On the occasion of the 75th birthday of Suske en Wiske, Standaard Uitgeverij asked the French screenwriter François Corteggiani and draftsman Dirk Stallaert to finish the story. It was thirty years ago on Friday that Willy Vandersteen died.

It was no coincidence that Standaard Uitgeverij chose Stallaert (64). He drew the adventures of Nero for years, but has done various freelance assignments for Studio Vandersteen since 2006.
