It is time to say THANK YOU! Instead of always nagging, noisy, sawing, protesting, scolding, grumbling … and grumbling at a high level (nagging, whining, complaining, lamenting, whining, blaring and snorting are also missing). One problem in this regard is definitely the hit rate. Aid funds never “only” reach the right people – with certainty. Starting with the 2 x € 600 bonus from the state up to many subsidies before and after Corona. Another example is the sales bonuses in Germany and Austria, where 80 or 70 percent (and now in December still 50%) of sales in the same month of the previous year go to aid money. That is probably an exaggeration in at least a third of the cases, because no company has 50 percent of turnover – neither net nor gross. Especially when the employees are on short-time work. So there are companies in these countries who actually earn money with this “aid”, while others still look through the fingers. The older fixed cost contribution in Austria was good in this regard.
Back to South Tyrol and the areas that were definitely hardest hit. These are those who have been in a monetary shutdown, so to speak, since the end of February. It is all those companies that generate their income with and through events, culture, events, leisure, entertainment, sport, trade fairs, congresses, holiday bookings, trips and the like. Many of these had lost sales of 50 to 90 percent. On the other hand, there are fixed costs that normally do not pose any problems – because they are deductible. If there is no turnover, then fixed costs such as rent, heating, electricity, water, insurance, tax consultants, vehicle fleet maintenance, taxes and any expenses remain “strictly net” on the cost side. An extreme deficit, which means that these owners had to shell out thousands of euros per month. So it wasn’t about earning less or nothing, but paying as little as possible. Because nobody can live on the long run from minus. You can’t buy milk or bread with it, let alone a refrigerator. The employees in wage compensation got away with a black eye in this regard – thanks to Father State and Mutti Land.
Yes, that’s right, the event industry, travel agencies and all other service providers who live from what was and still is forbidden have earned well in recent years, perhaps invested appropriately and paid taxes accordingly. And maybe put something on the edge. But that also applies to all other areas. EVERYONE has worked well and all wages (including those of the public servants) are on average reasonable. It could always be MORE … Justified where really shitty wages are paid. And envy doesn’t help either. The old LH had already spoken of a people of whiners and rascals. And in many a personal conversation with entrepreneurs it was said so often “we are grumbling at a high level”. And even teachers said privately that they were actually privileged.
Oh yes, I wanted to say thank you (perhaps also on behalf of others whose economic survival has been temporarily secured); The governor as well as the economic council. And the entire state government. And also the opposition, which showed understanding and solidarity. God bless the employees in the offices and state offices who worked out the criteria for the special aid fund together with business associations. (I know about emails and WhatsApp messages at 10 p.m. – long after work is over). The specialist in charge of the event service provider at HDS is also to be rewarded for her efforts. And then another “Donkschian” to my colleagues (and cultural institutions) who drew attention to the precarious situation in the industry with the “Night Of Light” campaign. There is still a lack of customers, associations and cultural organizers who, despite adverse circumstances, had provided for some “work”. And landlords who have been lenient. And finally, a simple thank you to the entire press, which recognized the emergency situation and made it public; so that this branch, which mostly works in the background and is barely visible, is not forgotten.
PS1: Anyone who has collected public aid without actually being “affected” can still feel ashamed. And speak out on it: “siamo in Italia” … where relevant role models are becoming increasingly rare.
Ps2; The province of Bolzano has paid between 40% and 70% of the annual fixed costs as a contribution to particularly affected economic sectors. Provided that sales declines between 60% and 100% were recorded. Covered with max. € 80,000 or € 100,000
