The second vice president from Junta de Extremadura and Minister of Health, José María Vergeleshas pointed out that when a vaccination schedule is launched, it is done for those born that year and added that, in the case of the meningitis B vaccinein the region is recovering to the you drink that they fulfill two months in January 2023 to receive it for free.
This is how Vergeles has spoken, to questions from the media, about some complaints made by families due to difficulties in administering this vaccine to some minors. In this line, the counselor has insisted that the Extremadura Health Service (SES) is providing all the information, in addition to insisting that when a vaccination schedule is launched, it is done for those born that year, then, as has been reported , it is pursued that if a baby is born in January 2023, when the meningitis B vaccine is due, it can be guaranteed.
Thus, and in the case of meningitis B, which is “where most complaints have been made”, the counselor explained that babies who are two months old in January 2023 are also being recovered so that they can receive also the vaccine according to the new approved calendar.
“Of course, recover the rest, when they have already started with a recommendation that was not approved at the time, because it is difficult to find a solution, but we are trying, as far as possible, to those who are two months old an approximation so that this vaccine can be administered specifically to boys and girls who are two months old as of January”, he pointed out.
The second vice president has also detailed that there are different situations for minors who, due to their immune status, have received the first dose of Bexsero and must follow a few steps, which are that they continue to be administered at the health center and that they be provide the said center.
“We, I insist, we are going to insist on the communication for the correct interpretation of the resolution that we have issued at the beginning of this year 2023 and what I ask is that they allow us to adapt. That the claims are already presented and that we are attending to those claims that they are presenting”, he asserted.
José María Vergeles has made these statements, to questions from the media, moments before chairing, in Mérida, the meeting of the Extremadura Health Council that, among other issues, will address the vaccination calendar.
The Minister of Health, regarding said meeting, has stressed that it will be a “very community” Health Council of Extremadura, in which the memory of last year of the Ombudsman for Users of the Public Health System of Extremadura will be addressed, as well as the Plan Action Plan for Primary Health Care and all the measures put in place.
Specifically, the regional manager has referred to measures such as improvements in the conditions of professionals, which must be negotiated at the health sector table, and others that have to do with the organization, use and orientation of Primary Care towards care more directed at promoting health and preventing disease.
Other issues that will be addressed will be the epidemiological surveillance system, which makes it possible to anticipate acute respiratory infections, to know how the incidences of said infections are going and to gradually adapt the care resources so that, as far as possible, the planned activity is carried out. .
In this way, José María Vergeles has stressed that the SES is putting all the resources at its disposal to recover Primary Care, being one of those that is experiencing the worst due to the pandemic.
Also, and to questions from the media about a sentence that condemns the SES to pay compensation of 45,000 euros to the family of a patient who died in Cáceres of kidney cancer and who suffered a delay in care, Vergeles has assured that he respects the sentence and that it will be executed.
Finally, and asked about the news regarding sick leave, the Extremaduran counselor has indicated that what he considers a novelty are the measures proposed by the Ministry of Inclusion and Social Security regarding the management and control of these processes, with the objective to expedite procedures and eliminate bureaucracy.
