Verdict on Alleged Violation of Chief Justice’s Code of Ethics to be Read by Honorary Council

Jakarta

Decision regarding alleged violation of the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court’s code of ethics Anwar Usman and other constitutional judges will be read by the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK). The verdict will be read next week.

The ethical allegation is related to the decision in case number 90/PUU-XXI/2023, concerning the decision on a lawsuit for material review of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections regarding the age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates.

The Constitutional Court’s decision means that the Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming, can take part in the 2024 presidential election. Gibran also responded.

“Yes, just wait, thank you,” said Gibran when met by media crew in Mangkunegaran, as reported by detikJateng, Sunday (5/11/2023).

When asked whether the MKMK decision would affect his steps to become vice presidential candidate, Gibran only commented briefly. He again asked everyone to wait.

“Yeah, just wait, thank you, thank you,” he said.
