Pedro Cruz, from the defense team of the five environmentalists from ADES and Santa Marta, reported that the verdict of the Sensuntepeque Sentencing Court, Cabañas, will be known until Tuesday, October 15 of this year.

The defense lawyers of the environmental leaders of ADES and Santa Marta maintained that they managed to destroy the hypotheses of the public prosecutor’s office.
It should be remembered that the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic accuses environmental leaders of allegedly murdering a woman in August 1989, during the armed conflict, in Santa Marta, Cabañas.
This Thursday morning, the Public Prosecutor’s Office presented two witnesses who, according to the FGR, “will help certify the manner and circumstances in which the events occurred.” However, the social movement said the opposite, as they point out that the accused are innocent and the purpose of the case is to intimidate and instill fear regarding the anti-mining fight.
Pedro Cruz insisted that “in the opinion of the defense team it has been possible to destroy the hypothesis and postulates that the prosecution has raised and we are very optimistic that with the final argument and conclusions we can demonstrate with complete certainty and forcefulness to the court that “The people accused of this crime are completely innocent and must be acquitted.”
