The warning strikes in the public sector are entering the next round: the Verdi trade union is calling for further all-day warning strikes for March 22, 2023. Among other things, public transport, daycare centers and garbage disposal could be affected. Bremer Strassenbahn AG makes it clear that there will be no strike on the Wednesday in question. There is currently no information that BSAG is planning a warning strike for the day, a spokesman said. It is assumed that buses and trams will run as usual.
Shortly before the third round of negotiations between the employers and the Verdi trade union, there are to be further warning strikes: Verdi is calling on public sector employees to go on nationwide strikes in Bremen and Lower Saxony on Wednesday, March 22nd. Employees in daycare centers, local public transport, garbage disposal and administration could stop working again that day.
In Hanover, employees of the transport company and the waste disposal company should also extend the strike to March 23. According to Verdi, central rallies are planned for March 22 in Hanover and Bremen. The union has not yet announced any further details.
Warning strikes in Lower Saxony in clinics
In the course of the nationwide warning strikes in the public sector, the warning strikes in Lower Saxony continued on March 15. According to the Verdi union, the focus was on clinics. In the southeast of the country, however, many areas of public service such as daycare centers are affected.
In the past few weeks there have been several warning strikes in Lower Saxony and Bremen, including at airports, clinics and daycare centers. Verdi wants to push through 10.5 percent more wages for the 2.5 million federal and local employees nationwide, but at least 500 euros more a month. Employers are gradually offering five percent more for a two-year term and a one-off payment of 2,500 euros. In the second round of negotiations there was no rapprochement. The third round of negotiations will take place in Potsdam from March 27th to 29th.
