Although the ending Bohemia Energy claims that it was fair to its customers, its clients have a different opinion. Although they did not lose electricity and gas, they were shocked by the amount of advances from suppliers of last resort. Mrs. Věra also knows about this, and she came up with a plan for gas advances in the amount of almost her entire pension. However, if she had signed a three-year contract with the supplier, the advances would suddenly have been halved. Many other people report a similar experience. The regulator is therefore urging people to settle new contracts with energy suppliers quickly.
Mrs. Věra is 80 years old and lives alone in a family house with a monthly pension of 15,000. Her peaceful life was hit hard this fall. The gas was supplied by Bohemia Energy, which announced the end of energy supplies a few days ago.
Mrs. Věra did not lose her gas, according to the law, she was taken over by a supplier of last resort, in this case innogy. The company thus sent her a plan for new advances, from which the dolls turned to the pensioner. The amount of the monthly deposit is 14,440 crowns, ie almost her entire pension. “She absolutely collapsed,” told her editorial staff TN.cz her son Tomáš.

He looked for a new supplier for his mother, with whom she would have significantly more favorable conditions, but due to the extremely high demand, she has been waiting for the contract for ten days. Ms. Věra would have significantly lower advances at the innogy company itself if it became its new customer.
With a three-year contract, the advances would suddenly fall to 7.5 thousand crowns per month. “Which people will welcome as an amazing relief. However, even so, the mother will overpay about 10 to 15 thousand crowns a year in comparison with the tariff I have chosen elsewhere,” Mr. Tomáš complains. “I don’t know how many such people there will be, but especially for the older generation, such behavior is literally deadly,” he added.
DPI mode is extremely disadvantageous
Innoga spokesman Martin Chalupský acknowledges that for Bohemia Energy clients, prices under the last resort (DPI) regime are a big surprise. “Simply put, however, it is a rescue regime so that they do not end up without vital energy. DPI is not a contractual relationship, but follows from the law. For all customers who fell into DPI, the advances are similarly high, “said Chalupský.
“In addition, it should be mentioned that the DPI advances are set for only half a year and cover consumption for the entire heating season, when natural gas consumption represents more than 80% of full-year consumption,” he added. Bohemia Energy could not have timed its end of deliveries worse. Suppliers of last resort will cover it for the next six months in the late autumn, winter and early spring months, ie the colder part of the year.
This is one of the reasons why backups in DPI mode are extremely high. “We recommend everyone to quickly switch to a standard contract from innoga or from a supplier of their choice. Prices and deposits will be immediately significantly lower,” Chalupský explains. This is because for people in DPI mode, innogy buys gas at prices that are currently in wholesale markets.

“We just have to make sure they have energy. For customers who sign a contract (eg Optimal) we buy at so-called forward prices, which are significantly lower. However, these are prices that apply for the second half of next year or up to 2023. That is why this product is clearly cheaper, “added Chalupský.
Switch to a new supplier as soon as possible
According to the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO), Ms. Věra’s case is exemplary and shows why to switch from the DPI regime to a normal product as soon as possible. “DPI will supply consumers for a maximum of six months, so advances are only calculated for six months, according to the expected consumption, which is higher in winter,” confirmed ERO spokesman Michal Kebort.
–
“As soon as the consumer switches from DPI to a standard product, the advances are calculated for 12 months, the expected average consumption will decrease due to the fact that the summer months with lower consumption will also be included,” he added.
Many other people have a similar experience as Mrs. Věra. “Our daughter was also with Bohemia Energy. She received a bill from innogy for monthly gas advances of 16,600 crowns, where she pays some 10,000 for her mortgage. Previously, they had 3,000 of gas advances and now they have to pay 16,000.” Mr. Ctibor described the difficult situation of his daughter.
“They get into existential problems with their partner, when they would not even have money left for food and family needs. They have a small two-year-old son,” he said. Another Bohemia Energy customer showed the TN.cz editorial office a bill with monthly advances of over 22 thousand crowns.
That is why the ERO calls on people to conclude a contract with a new energy supplier as soon as possible. IN this article you will find an overview of suppliers who are hiring new customers. But the interest is huge, so expect a longer waiting time.
