Ukrainian singer Vera Brezhneva in an interview with a Ukrainian publication Viva! explained the meaning she put into her new songs from the album “Dyakuyu”. She admitted that she sings about her transformation, rethinking and divorce from her husband, Ukrainian producer Konstantin Meladze.
According to Brezhneva, in her new songs she also talks about how life is reborn after it seems that everything has collapsed.
“My whole past life was destroyed, even myself. But every day, going through various difficulties, I understand that I am becoming stronger. And there is even more truth and truth in this,” the singer explained. “It’s very scary to go into the unknown, very “It’s scary to let go of your past. We were so happy, and now it feels like a completely different life, and it’s time to start all over again. Every morning we start all over again and choose our path. Who we become tomorrow is up to us to choose.”
The singer admitted that she used to be ideal, comfortable, obedient and very dependent on other people’s opinions.
“Now that old version has collapsed, I said goodbye to it and finally changed. Now for someone I am inconvenient and imperfect, but for myself I am who I am, real,” she said.
Brezhnev added that if “there is true love, trust and warmth between people, they will go through any adversity.”

Brezhnev and Meladze secretly got married on October 22, 2015 in Italy. The couple has no children together.
Before the full-scale invasion of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, the spouses lived and worked in Russia. In March 2022, Brezhneva announced that after the Russian attack on Ukraine she left Russia and lives in Italy.
On October 8, 2023, on the day of the premiere of the album “Dyakuyu,” the singer announced that she and Meladze broke up back in 2022. She did not give reasons for the divorce. Meladze did not comment on the divorce from Brezhneva.
